Position Overview:
The Headstone Technician is responsible for maintaining and preserving headstones and memorial sites. This role focuses on cleaning, restoring, and ensuring the upkeep of headstones and their surroundings to provide families with a respectful and well-maintained resting place for their loved ones. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, confident in using a range of tools and techniques, and takes pride in delivering a high standard of service.
Key Responsibilities:
• Clean headstones using non-abrasive methods, specialized equipment, and cleaning agents.
• Remove moss, lichen, dirt, and stains to restore the headstone’s original appearance.
• Renew lettering using techniques such as gilding, repainting, and other restoration methods to enhance readability.
• Apply protective treatments to prevent weathering and environmental damage.
• Weed and tidy the area around headstones and memorials.
• Maintain the surrounding landscaping, including trimming grass and clearing debris.
Tools and Safety:
• Confidently use personal protective equipment (PPE) and hand tools for restoration work.
• Operate cleaning and restoration tools safely and effectively.
• Follow health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
• Communicate with clients to understand specific care or restoration needs.
• Provide updates, including before-and-after photos of work completed.
• Offer guidance on the best practices for maintaining memorials over time.
• Maintain detailed records of services performed, including materials used and time spent.
• Document the condition of headstones before and after work for client records.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Experience in stonework, restoration, or related fields (preferred but not essential).
• Proficiency in techniques such as gilding, lettering renewal, and surface restoration.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
• Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy objects.
• Confidence using PPE and hand tools.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Sensitivity and professionalism when dealing with bereaved families.
• Knowledge of relevant health and safety practices.
Compensation and Benefits:

This role involves managing administrative tasks, coordinating office activities, and providing support to team members. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking in a dynamic work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage daily office operations, including filing, data entry, and record keeping.
• Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and handle correspondence.
• Maintain office supplies by ordering and replenishing stock as needed.
